A few months ago I got an assignment to photograph Jade McNeese for the Fall / Winter Atlanta fashion issue of Little Black Dress magazine. The idea was to showcase various New Year’s Eve party type fashions using wardrobe and jewelry from Ivy Lane.
Jade was in hair and make up from Dyer & Posta most of the morning with Ashley Alonso taking care of her hair and Maria Rigney on makeup. Meanwhile I was at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta scouting the shoot locations, setting up/testing light, and getting all of the details ironed out.
Once Jade arrived, we jumped right in and knocked out the various situations we had come up with. We spent a good six hours or so moving to different areas of the theatre with only a few short breaks for snacks and lunch. Since it was late fall / early winter it was pretty cold which definitely set the mood. Luckily we were working mostly inside, but had to get on the roof for about an hour which was probably the hardest part of the day. Some people might be thinking modeling seems easy, but it’s definitely a hard job to do especially when you are in dresses in the winter and going hours without eating or breaking, but Jade did an amazing job.
The Strand was incredible to let us use the location even though they were closed. They also helped out a lot by turning on and positioning different stage lighting and giving us a sweet tour of the building and history. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the shoot.
