An Adventurous Yonah Mountain Camping Engagement At Night

In true bold fashion, Kasey proposed to Sarah after hiking to the peak of Yonah Mountain in the Cleveland, Georgia area. Although slightly sweaty and dirty, that didn’t stop Sarah from responding with an thrilled “Yes”!

When planning for their engagement session, we figured there would be nothing better than a camping engagement session with camping at the very location where the engagement started. Although the weather that day was in and out of storms, that didn’t stop us from hiking up Yonah Mountain with tons of gear to make it all happen. We opted not to hike all the way to the top since our bags were extremely heavy with camping and photo gear, we made it most of the way up. Couple looking at each other on top of mountain at Yonah mountain hiking engagement session Luckily for us, most of the earlier part of the day was clear, so we had time to set up the campground, build a fire, and do some hiking. Well, I actually didn’t do too much, but take photos. Sarah and Kasey did most of the hard work. Lol. Nonetheless, it worked out perfectly before some storms rolled in filled with plenty of lightening. Being in a storm outside is pretty sketchy in general, but more so being really high up with lightening striking nearby.

The storm actually provided some nice drama to the sky and made the photos all that much better I think. The skies eventually cleared back up, so Sarah and Kasey made some awesome S’mores. We took a break with our tasty treat, chatting about life, camping, black holes, and podcasts before packing up. More storms began to roll in as we made our way back to the bottom of the mountain in the dark. Although the way down was easier than coming up, doing it in the dark with flashlights, made it much more challenging. The shadow of the night also brought out tons of bugs and even a massive amount of bees that we had to contend with, but the additional rain was actually a welcoming relief from the heat and sweat.
