I had the opportunity to join the Wright family, founders of the Cedarcrest Church in Acworth Georgia, to find out some of the winter family holiday traditions they do each year for Red Wagon Magazine. They started showing me how to make mason jar snow globes with various arts and craft items found at pretty much any local craft store. They turned out awesome and are a pretty cheap way to spend time with the family and have some great home decor for the holidays.
Next up were cinnamon applesauce ornaments. These are basically what they sound like. The batter is made and turned into ornaments for your Christmas tree or just to hang around your home. They are technically edible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I tasted the batter and it was really bitter. Lol.
Lastly, each year they read a very special Christmas book in their pajamas while enjoying homemade hot chocolate together. The book is The Night Before Christmas. While the story is not necessarily special by itself, it’s actually a recordable book, and the story is read by Megan’s (mom) dad.
I had a blast hanging out with the Wright family for the day and learning some of their favorite family holiday traditions. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the shoot.
