Deciding who to hire to photograph your wedding is a big decision. When you hire a photographer to document your wedding, you’re entrusting that person to capture the emotion of the day, the important moments and all of the details and candor in between. Hiring the right photographer means that you’ll be blessed with amazing images that will allow you to relive the emotions and the beauty of your wedding. But what comes after the wedding? Hopefully, when you interviewed your photographer, you saw some of his/her sample wedding albums. Finding a photographer who understands how to take great images is important, but it’s also important to find a photographer who also understands the significance of your wedding album.
I think every couple who invests in their wedding photography should also invest in their album – big, beautiful wedding albums. Your wedding album is your first family heirloom. You’ll share it with your children and your grandchildren. You’ll flip through it at least a hundred times in your lifetime. It’s the one thing that you will have to pick up, hold, touch, feel and look through sixty years from now. It will transport you back to one of the most magical days in your life. Wedding albums are an important part of preserving family history, and like wedding photography, they are really not something to be undervalued or skimped on.
There is something nostalgic and real about a big book of an important aspect of your life. Wedding albums will never become obsolete and they don’t require batteries, a charger, or power of any type. You don’t need to turn anything on, boot something up, or download the latest driver. You just pick it up off your coffee table or bookshelf and dive in. Best of all, you don’t need instructions!
If you are hiring me for your Atlanta wedding, destination wedding, or even your wedding in another country, there’s no need to worry. All of my clients receive a custom designed album with their wedding collection. My albums typically come with a hard cover featuring a gorgeous photo, professionally printed pages on archival paper, and mounted with the latest technology in printing and binding. They are beautiful, customizable, and made to last a lifetime. Of course, albums are designed to compliment you, offering a wide selection of materials, cover options, and paper types. Even then, the size and number of pages are up to you.
Sadly, not all wedding photographers offer albums. Wedding albums can also vary greatly between different photographers, so it’s important to speak with your photographer about this prior to signing anything.
