I met Sadie and Ryan through Sadie’s sister Courteney, who’s wedding happened to be my first wedding I ever shot. With that said, this wedding has a lot of meaning for me. Aside from being an AMAZING Jekyll Island wedding with Jessica and I being able to stay at Jekyll Island for four awesome days, it was a great chance to hang out with incredible friends.
Jessica and I felt like family and were treated as such, so it really felt like more of a vacation even though we were there to work. Well…. it pretty much was a vacation. :) We spent a lot of our time on our own exploring places like the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, enjoying the beaches, and laying under the stars in a hot tub. Work is rough sometimes!
(WARNING: It was really hard to choose photos for this blog post, so I gave up. I hope you like photos, because it ended up being very visually intensive.)
The wedding day was awesome as well with perfect weather for a beach wedding. There was a slight chance of rain, but that goes with the territory. As with Sadie’s sister’s wedding, the families, especially her mom, donated their time and energy to designing and setting up everything from hand making all the details to doing the other 1,984,374 things you have to do for weddings. They have an amazing family and group of friends if I didn’t mention that already.
The day went smooth with a lot of laughing….and I mean a lot. It was pure entertainment all day. From goofy dancing to jumping on beds in wedding dresses, there really was never a dull moment. The majority of the time was taken up by the girls as they got their hair and makeup was done by the wonderful Azure Salon & Spa who came from Canton, Georgia! Of course, the guys never take long to get ready, but when you’re the groom and the only one that knows how to iron….well I guess it takes longer to brush your teeth.
The ceremony had two pastors. Yes, two. That’s better than one in case you didn’t already know. When you have two in your family, that’s how things roll. One conducted the first part, the second conducted the last part, including the sand ceremony. Side note: Jessica and I had a sand ceremony as well. :)
After the ceremony, we headed out for portraits. Sadie’s mom, being as awesome as she is, knows how important the timeline is and made sure to give me two hours just for portraits! Obviously, photography is very important to them. ;) Also, the sky could not have been better as it became increasingly more cloudy creating the dramatic skies I love in photographs.
The evening finished off with the reception, which was more like a family reunion, filled with great food, a little dancing, talking, and of course the photo booth. It was decorated with tons of details from the sea including real goldfish! I guess goldfish really don’t live in the sea, but they are fish.
The cake cutting was one of my favorite parts with a great cake smash. That seemed fitting of both Sadie and Ryan….well really the whole family. It wouldn’t have surprised me if a cake fight broke out with everyone involved. The reception finished out with the garter toss and oddly…..a wedding football toss. Sadie didn’t have a second bouquet, and hers was so great that she opted for a football that was laying around. I think that was way more comical to watch as it fumbled and all the girls went chasing after it.
I guess that about wraps it up. Jessica and I are very thankful and honored to have been a part of Sadie and Ryan’s Jekyll Island wedding. Oh, and I’m still rocking my sunglasses I got from the ceremony on a daily bases. Score! Congratulations to Sadie and Ryan!!
