The fall weather in Atlanta can be unpredictable with multiple seasons happening in one day….such was the case on Victoria and Adam’s wedding day at The Atrium. The morning started mostly clear and cool and then transitioned to rain with muggy heat. That didn’t stop everyone from continuing to get ready at the W Hotel Midtown for the ceremony with giant smiles on their faces. Much like the weather, emotions were all over the place as well. Smiles went to tears of joy and back to smiles all within minutes.
Once everyone was ready, the girls headed to The Atrium so Victoria could put on her wedding dress while the guys held back grabbing drinks at the W Hotel bar. When Victoria and her wedding party arrived at The Atrium it was still raining. The original plan was for a sunny outdoor wedding. A decision had to be made to keep the ceremony outside with rain or move it all indoors. After weighing the pros / cons and asking my opinion, Victoria and Adam mutually decided to keep the ceremony outdoors. We love the uniqueness and romance of rain wedding ceremonies and after shooting one in a hurricane, whats a little rain? Now we were left with the task of finding a ton of umbrellas within a of couple of hours!
Everyone jumped on the phone calling places and searching for umbrellas anywhere within a 20 minute drive. Luckily we found a ton at the dollar store and some cute clear ones for the wedding party at Target. We sent Dan out to round them all up while everyone else kept getting ready. If you didn’t already know, Dan is an amazing assistant, 2nd shooter, clothes ironer, umbrella getter, and anything else you’ll ever need.
Once the guys arrived, we had all the umbrellas, and moved right into the first look. We held it outside since the rain mostly cleared up at that point. The entire wedding party gathered with Adam in the courtyard and watched as Victoria came up behind him. Both Victoria and Adam had the biggest smiles as they saw each other for the first time and tears and clapping came from their friends.
The ceremony started shortly after and the weather seemed to be holding up nicely. Adam teared up slightly as Victoria came down the aisle with her father. The wedding party also had a few tears along with massive smiles. The rain started up slightly towards the end of the ceremony, but guests just popped open their umbrellas and everyone cheered as Victoria and Adam sealed their ceremony with a kiss. The reception started quickly with drinks flowing from the bar and music from the talented guitarist John Amoroso who got everyone on the dance floor. The party continued until speeches were given and tears of joy flowed, before the dance floor heated back up. At the end of the night, everyone was exhausted. Sixteen hour wedding days can do that to you. Even though we were wore out, I joined Victoria and Adam back at their hotel to shoot some more creative portraits at 2am.
Both Victoria and Adam are super incredible people, adventurous, and lovers of life! We had such an incredible time documenting their story and celebrating right along with them. Here are some of my favorite photos from their romanic rainy Atlanta wedding.
