An Intimate Summertime Piedmont Park Atlanta Elopement Wedding

Groom grabbing shoes to put on with suite for Piedmont Park Atlanta elopement weddingA few weeks ago I had the honor to join Abby and Dan for their Atlanta elopement wedding in Piedmont Park. They were about to move to a new state but wanted to have their wedding in the downtown Atlanta since it has been a huge part of where they’ve lived and enjoyed life for years. The only people they chose to invite were their parents who came in from out of town a few days before. As they typically do with elopements, things went extremely smooth. Dan got ready at his apartment with his parents while Abby got ready with her parents at the Loews Hotel just a block away. Luckily they lived within walking distance of Piedmont Park, so instead of dealing with traffic and other big city issues, we just walked to the ceremony.

Since their wedding was a little more spontaneous we had to ask a few people if they would leave the planned ceremony area for a short period so we could hold the wedding. Of course, no one complained and numbers of people who were enjoying the park stopped to watch the ceremony. As Abby’s father walked her down the aisle Dan stood proudly with a smile while their parents tried to hold back tears. The ceremony was short and sweet by the lake in the park featuring the Atlanta skyline in the background. Abby and Dan’s officiant was a close personal friend so it made the whole thing even more awesome.

After the ceremony, we all headed to a nearby restaurant for some quick portraits and drinks to celebrate. I loved the intimacy of Abby and Dan’s Atlanta elopement wedding. I must confess that I am partial to smaller weddings and elopements because my wife and I had a smaller wedding as well. :) Here are some of my favorite photos from Abby and Dan’s rad Atlanta elopement wedding at Piedmont Park.
