Jessica and I were in New York City for an engagement session with Deb and Leigh. While we were there we took plenty of time to explore the city. I’ve lived in NYC, so I know how awesome it is and sometimes crazy. Jessica had never been and I was excited to see her reaction. We spent most of our time in Manhattan walking, taking subways, Ubers, taxis, and trains all over the place stopping off at various sites.
By the end of our two day adventure in the city, we pretty much checked off everything on our list including the 9/11 memorial, Central Park, visiting Dash (Jessica’s thing), Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, and looking at the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park. We really wanted to visit the statue in person, but it closed daily at 4pm, so we never made it.
While photographing Deb and Leigh’s engagement session, we took a taxi to Brooklyn to get a few photos with the bridge. Before getting out of the cab we used it for a couple photos. As much as people in general talk about how rude people in NYC can be, we honestly found everyone to be super nice and helpful. Once we arrived to the Brooklyn bridge, we walked about a half mile to get into the walking entrance area to get on to the bridge itself. After a few photos, we all decided to walk the bridge all the way back to Manhattan. It really wasn’t that far. It’s about a mile across the bridge itself. Overall, pretty short unless you’ve already walked 16 miles the day before and 13 miles up to the point that day. Then it seems like walking across the US.
Along the way I captured the insane amount of amazing opportunities on the streets as people continued their busy lives. We ended up walking about 17 miles per day! With all the exercise we were sure to eat some tasty Korean, plenty of NY style pizza, and frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity.
Here are some of my favorite photos from Deb and Leigh’s New York City engagement session and our adventure.
