A few days ago Jessica and I had the opportunity to travel down to Macon, Georgia to join Austin and capture his wedding proposal to Megan. Austin spent a loooong time planning every little detail. Even with Megan almost figuring things out causing Austin to have to make last minute changes to the day, time, and even location, he pulled it off beautifully. Austin ended up taking Megan to Agave Azul Mexican restaurant where they had their very first date. :)
Jessica and I arrived early and met all of their family and friends. We spent some time trying to figure out how I was going to photograph the proposal. Obviously, I didn’t want to be noticeable and throw everything off. We tried hiding behind a door, entertained the idea of pretending to be a photographer sent out by the landlord for inspection photos, and even pretending to be customers just there to eat. We finally decided on pretending to be customers. We had the staff bring out drinks, chips, and salsa, and menus to make it all seem more legit. Jessica and I sat across from where Megan and Austin were to be seated and waited patiently for them to arrive.
Once they arrived and ordered drinks, Austin got down on one knee and began his proposal. Megan was well prepared and after her very enthusiastic YES! pulled out a five-page love letter to Austin. Austin had another surprise for Megan and took her around the other side of the restaurant where all of their family and friends waited. Some of them drove five plus hours to be there! Tons of excitement, tears, and laughter filled the room as they made their entrance.
Austin wasn’t finished with the surprises though. He put in tons of time and work planning every detail of not only the proposal, but also the wedding. He booked her dream venue in Savannah, her dream photographer (me!), and many other details. We even have the engagement session planned for this coming weekend in Savannah! How amazing is that! I’ve shot a lot of weddings and this was a first. I mean to have everything planned out so well is just awesome! All they have to do now is enjoy the rest of their planning and time together. :D
Be sure to check out Megan and Austin’s destination Savannah engagement session too!
