Laina & Ben decided they wanted to involve trains in their Chattanooga Tennessee engagement session and not for cliché reasons. Ben has been extremely passionate about trains since he was very young. Everything about trains! Even as far as flying out to Arizona for trains! And…since Ben was in charge of planning their engagement session, it obviously had to involve…..trains.
We met at 6:30 am to make the two-hour trip up to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. I was very impressed with the amount of attention to detail they put into their engagement session in a very short planning time. Ben had it methodically planned out with clothing, props, and even timing the course of the trains at certain intervals. I’m sure Laina helped a lot too. :)
We started shooting around the station first, after getting some semi-official type of permission of course. Then we moved into one of the train cars since the door was open. We didn’t take the very looonng 6-7 hour train ride but instead opted to chase the train. Well really, we stayed ahead of it the whole time in order to make stops.
After the steam powered train left the station, we headed out to our next stop along Ben’s mapped list. We made it with about 10 minutes to spare. Apparently, trains are a BIG deal, at least in Chattanooga Tennessee, because at every stop and even along the way, there were dozens of people filming, shooting photos, and waiting for the train to make its pass. We finished up at our last stop for one more train pass at a park located along the train’s route.
Although I had had to get up at 4 am and we had to drive all over two states following a train heading to Georgia, I think Laina and Ben’s engagement session turned out awesome!
