A Destination Wedding In the Motor City Detroit Michigan

Wedding invitations and paper at Detroit Michigan wedding

Some time ago, at Cedar Point, a guy and a girl both worked as ride hosts at two different rides in the amusement park. Through mutual friends their paths crossed ways and in 2010 a romance began. Kristen and Allen are very spontaneous people in life as well as all aspects of their relationship. When it came to the proposal, Allen tried to plan it out, but his first attempt was botched by a ring that was late to the store. The following day Allen offered to go out to pick up breakfast while Kristen slept in. Secretly, he slipped away to pick up the ring and headed back home. As he walked in, Allen was caught ring handed by Kristen and with no other option, he proposed right then and there. Bridesmaid talking to bride while sitting on coach at Detroit Michigan wedding

Although both Allen and Kristen now live in Georgia, they decided on a destination wedding in Detroit Michigan. Well, more specifically, Kristen’s childhood home of Port Huron. One thing I loved about being in Michigan was Tim Hortons coffee and donut holes which I’ve missed since moving to Atlanta from Dayton, Ohio. Hopefully they’ll make their way further south. :)

On the big day, everyone got ready at the Hilton of Port Huron hotel on the St. Clair river, just across the way from Canada. Since everyone stayed at the same location, it made everything much easier. The girls started off with hair and makeup as the guys….well, I’m not sure what they were doing at the time. Probably some sort of guy stuff. Photo of bridesmaid getting hair done shot through arm at Detroit Michigan wedding

Kristen and Allen had special gifts they wanted to exchange while they were getting ready. Seeing as I was already jumping back and fourth between the girls and the guys, I had the honor of delivering the gifts. With each gift, a handwritten letter was included and some great emotions came from Kristen and Allen.

The guys and I headed down to the river area for some fun portraits as the girls finished getting ready. On the way down to the river, we came across some kids playing baseball behind the hotel, so everyone jumped in for a couple plays. Once the girls were ready, we met up with them for some more portraits before heading to the ceremony. Bridesmaid getting hair done at Detroit Michigan wedding

Kristen and Allen were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church a couple miles away from the hotel. Everyone gathered to put on last minute touches as all the guests quickly arrived. After the ceremony Kristen, Allen, and myself took off around town for some portraits. They had a limo that drove them around to the different locations which made for some entertaining turns and maneuvering in some of the tighter areas. We made several stops including an abandoned warehouse, the river front, a small fishing pier, and a large dirt parking lot. Yeah…dirt parking lots can be awesome! After our tour across the city, we headed over to Alexander’s Premiere Banquet for the reception. The reception was already filled with all the guests having a great time. As Kristen, Allen, and the wedding party made their grand entrance the reception filled with loud cheers. Kristen and Allen had their first dance and then everyone sat down to eat. Once the dancing got started, it was non-stop all night. The dance floor seemed to always be packed with people having a great time!

Here are some of my personal favorites from their big day! A big congratulations to Kristen and Allen! :) Bride and groom wedding rings with purple and white bouquet at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride getting lipliner at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaid getting hair done at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaid wearing purple sunglasses at Detroit Michigan wedding Makeup artist putting eyeshadow on bride at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaid looking in mirror at Detroit Michigan wedding Reflection in artwork of bride getting makeup at Detroit Michigan wedding Makeup artist putting eyeliner on bride at Detroit Michigan wedding Groom reading love letter from bride at Detroit Michigan wedding Grooms cufflinks at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen helping groom with tie at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen fixing collar on shirt at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen getting ready at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen putting on tie at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen helping groom put on the final touches at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride's wedding shoes and dress at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaids helping bride put on her wedding dress at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaids watching bride put on her wedding dress at Detroit Michigan wedding Bridesmaids helping bride with wedding dress at Detroit Michigan wedding Brides mom smiling at her while putting on wedding dress at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride hanger with bride putting on her wedding dress in background at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride crying while reading letter from groom at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen playing baseball with kids at Detroit Michigan wedding Groomsmen standing by lake with large bridge at Detroit Michigan wedding Groom standing in light stream at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Bride holding white and purple bouquet by window at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Michigan Wedding Photographer Matthew Druin Father walking bride down aisle of church at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Really wide photo of church with bride and groom sitting at alter at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Bride and groom sitting at alter at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Balcony shot of bride and groom standing at alter at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Bride and groom first kiss at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Bride and groom leaving church at Detroit Michigan wedding ceremony Wedding party standing by lake at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride and groom standing on outside stairs of abandoned building at Detroit Michigan wedding Groom hugging bride from behind photographed from above at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride and groom hugging with white and purple bouquet at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride and groom standing by lake with gravel at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride and groom standing in dirt filed with tire tracks at Detroit Michigan wedding Bride and groom first dance at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Guy in blue shirt dancing at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Wedding reception photographed through doors at Detroit Michigan wedding Groom throwing garter at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Bride throwing bouquet at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Bride grind dancing with guests at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Guests excitingly dancing at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Guests dancing at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Bride dancing with guests at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Bride and groom dancing at Detroit Michigan wedding reception Wedding guests dancing with light streaks at Detroit Michigan wedding Couple leaving Detroit Michigan wedding with sparklers
