Darby and Kimbra had their amazing intimate destination Edisto Island wedding a couple of days after their beach engagement session. Edisto Island is incredibly beautiful and made the perfect location for their wedding. That weekend, Tropical Storm Bonnie was rolling in with fierce force 35 mile/hr winds and tons of rain. Luckily the bulk of the storm hit the day before the wedding. That didn’t stop Darby and Kimbra from going forward with their planned outdoor wedding and I was down for the adventure.
The morning started off with tons of laughter from Darby, Kimbra, as well as, their friends and family, as everyone gathered at the beach house to get ready. Shortly after hair and makeup was completed, Darby and Kimbra retired to their room to get their wedding dresses on and finish the final touches before we all headed to a separate beach house for the ceremony. Darby and Kimbra’s wedding was super chill and everyone gathered through out the ceremony beach house chatting and relaxing before the ceremony. Once the final guests arrived, the ceremony started promptly with only a slight drizzle starting to fall from the tropical storm. The ceremony was short and sweet and finished with an uproar of cheering from everyone.
Right after the ceremony, we quickly walked to the beach just behind the house to photograph portraits before the rain picked up. The storm provided an awesome backdrop with a dramatic sky for Darby and Kimbra’s portraits. The rain slowly stopped, but the winds were still moving quickly. I was able to rope one of the guests into helping us since the rocks along the ocean cliff were slippery and a little dangerous. For many of the photos I climbed into the ocean to get the best shots. Although I was soaking wet afterwards, they were totally worth it. After some fun portraits, we headded back to the beach house for a relaxing reception filled with great food, beer, family, friends, and a whole lot of celebrating.
Darby and Kimbra’s wedding was absolutely incredible and one of my most adventure filled ones so far this year. It was truly an honor to be a part of such a love filled day. Here are some of my favorite photos from their destination Edisto Island wedding!
