A Basketball Themed Atlanta Engagement Session

Engaged couple holding hands on basketball court at basketball themed Atlanta engagement session

Way back in 2006, Aubrey and Dante found each other through a mutual job at IBM. Three years later, Aubrey knew Dante was the one for her. On a warm summer morning in July of 2014, Aubrey woke up slightly groggy unknowing that this day was going to be unlike any other.  Dante knew Aubrey was a simple girl, so he opted to keep his proposal simple and sweet. Around 8 am Dante nervously spoke with Aubrey regarding engagements. He continuously kept telling her how much he loved her and out of their bedroom closet he pulled out a ring, got on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Through Aubrey’s tears, she accepted.Engaged couple playing basketball at Basketball Themed Atlanta Engagement Session

This brings us to their Atlanta engagement session. I’m a storyteller and I always want to incorporate elements of each person as individuals, but also as a couple, to tell a full story. When planning for their engagement session, we decide to incorporate basketball since it’s such an important part of Dante’s life and Aubrey has spent many a day watching him play his favorite sport. I arrived early on Friday afternoon to ensure we would have space to shoot it. I guarded one-half of the court by placing photography equipment around like I was photographing the most important basketball game in Atlanta. Once Aubrey and Dante arrived the game was on as the two horsed (Ha! That’s a basketball pun) around on the court. After some b-ball action, we headed to, Overlook Park, another one of Aubrey and Date’s spots for some great scenery before the sun fully set. Dealing with the crazy Friday rush hour traffic didn’t help our cause much, but we made it with just enough time to spare. We made our way to some of the waterways and more mountain like areas taking advantage of the changing fall leaves and the sunset.
