Back in October, I had the pleasure of meeting with local Atlanta artists Luis Toache to photograph him for his article in Jezebel Magazine. Luis is the owner of Ulises Toache Art & Design Studios where he paints abstract landscapes in acrylic, oil, and encaustic. He also has a great series with a lot of politically infused messages which you can see behind him in the photos. He told me the story behind the series where he walked around the streets of Amsterdam ripping down all of the posters and advertisements he liked with no intention of creating art from them, he just liked them.
You might have seen his work before. He does a lot of pieces for design firms, places like the Rockefeller Center in New York, and hotels like The Ritz-Carlton. In person, Luis is an awesome guy. Sometimes I get very little time to get great photos of my subjects, but Luis gave me all the time I wanted, which was nice. We actually had a lot in common, so we spent time talking about art, inspiration, photography, and just hanging out. If you’re interested, you can check out more of his work by visiting his website.
