This past week, Dan and I joined Miranda and Zach at Venue 92 in Woodstock, Georgia for their big wedding day! Once again, the day called for 80-100% chance of rain all day, but once we set out, it was totally clear. I always jokingly say that we are some type of rain men since it has never rained at one of our weddings. I’m sure now that I wrote that it will.
The day started off with with Miranda and her bridesmaids getting their makeup done by Kari Roberts. Miranda’s dog was also there getting ready. Of course she wasn’t getting makeup, but she did have her own little pink dress specifically for the wedding ceremony. The guys arrived a little later and in typical guy fashion were dressed and ready pretty quickly.
We spent some time photographing Zach and his groomsmen getting ready before moving on to portraits. Using Venue 92’s vast warehouse type space, we created nice studio like portraits, before jumping back over to the girls. Miranda was just finishing up her hair and started getting into her wedding dress with the help of her mom and bridesmaids. We then photographed Miranda using the same studio like space before moving into the first look.
We decided to use Venue 92’s garden space for the first look. After positioning Zach, Miranda made her way down the stairs of the second level and out to Zach. The two spent about fifteen minutes talking, kissing, and taking in the day before we moved on for portraits before the ceremony.
The ceremony was also held in the garden area which was decorated with flowers from Stylish Stems and complete with giant colored balloons attached to the guests seats. Once at the alter, the ceremony commenced complete with a tree planting ceremony. Both Miranda and Zach brought dirt from their childhood homes which was delivered to the alter by their mothers. Then the dirt was poured into a small tree at the alter. The tree will then be planted at their house where it will continue to grow for many years. I’ve never seen this done before and thought it was a pretty rad idea and symbol.
The reception was quick to start as everyone was starving and ready to celebrate. Magnolia Thomas restaurant supplied a delicious buffet of amazing food and the candy bar provided tons of tasty treats. It was so tasty in fact that Dan and I lived off of it pretty much the whole day. The entire reception was decorated with a rustic vintage feel with amazing table pieces with metal bird cages, laced pearls, and flowers. A large six foot metal ferris wheel also made quite an impression. Drinking and dancing followed swiftly after everyone refueled and lasted late into the night. Everything was topped off with a very tasty cake from Eileen Carter Creations.
Here are some of my favorite photos from Miranda and Zach’s rustic Atlanta wedding.
